Rising from the arm, the seat and back fuse together into the other arm. Simple principles provide the best design for a comfortable sofa. A sparse supporting frame allows the seat and back to float like a wave. With its powerful interplay of lines, this sofa will continue to excite emotions.Holten (born in 1961) is a graduate of institutions including the MaastrichtAcademy of Fine Arts and Design and the Design Academy Eindhoven. He hasworked for the Dutch architect Wiel Arets as an architectural designer, and forArtifort as the head of product development (1993-1998). He designed theDoDo in 1997, his first design for Artifort, which immediately won the prizefor best Dutch Furniture Design 1998. Some of his other designs, such as Libel(2002) and Lotus & Low Lotus (2008) have also won prizes, receiving theaward for Good Industrial Design.With his design studio named after himself, Ren Holten focuses on thefurniture and bathroom fittings industries. Besides Artifort, his clientsinclude Pullman (beds), Mosa (tiles), and Clou (bathroom fittings).
